It goes without saying that taking your medication at the right time in the correct dosage is absolutely vital. Careful and thorough support with this, if necessary, is one of the ways we care for you. All our support workers are trained in medication safety and administration for each of the people they’re involved with.
When we first meet you, your dedicated Field Care Supervisor will carry out a Medication Risk Assessment. In that way, whatever medication you need to take, how much, when and why, will be fully understood. This information will be passed on to every support worker who works with you.
A Medication Record Chart will be kept in your home and our support workers will complete this after every occasion of medication support. They are trained to raise any concerns with your Field Care Supervisor and, where appropriate, we will discuss any issues with your GP or relevant health professional. If you need it, our support workers are trained to carry out more complex administration of medication, for example, PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) feeding.
In line with our empowering approach to care, we will prompt and encourage you to take responsibility for your own medication, helping you to remain independent.
